Tips that will represent last minute locations suggestions for activities to have a successful party.

  • Home is the easiest Location that is usually available with short notice: Parks, (obtain permits from the Parks and Recreation Annex building downtown). Chaffee Zoo rents some of their areas for parties

Entertainment: Keep the party active!

  • A DJ is most popular and a DJ should be in tune to your age group. Have them narrate games like Limbo, Musical chairs, Dancing with the Stars contest, Name That Tune and of course just dancing. This keeps the party active in between dinner and desert. Have prizes!  ( Gift cards in small $ amounts is universal and “easiest”)
  • Use a stereo system for the music; assign a manager to keep the music going have your graduate pick the music prior to the party. ( Very casual)
  • Clowns are good even for the older crowds. Have a Clown that does face painting and f aux tattoos. There are companies that do party faux tattoos. Your crowd of may even like balloon art.
  • Bounce Houses that are sturdy could be fun too!

Food: ***Caterers are great and can take a big load off of you

  • Bar-b-Que  assign helpers to help set up
  • Pick up pre- made trays of finger foods from the many deli sections around town
  • Beverages should be self serve but monitored, Rent fountain punch bowls, Slush machines
  • Deserts can be ordered with pictures of your guest of honor on them almost anywhere now. Chocolate fountains are very successful they can be purchased or rented locally. You cut up your favorite fruits and add your guest of honors’ favorite snack to be dipped.

 

Decorations:

  • Rent tables, chairs and linens from one of the many party rental businesses. Paper plates, napkins and cups are usually better for most “Casual” parties. Rental plates, flatware and glasses can be used for inside formal parties.
  • Balloons are an easy popular decoration a bouquet of Mylar’s weighted in the middle of the table. Depending on the area balloon Arches and or Pillars are very decorative.(Gala Events has lots of decorating idea for your parties)
  • A bowl of water with floating candles as a centerpiece and school color marbles or rocks
  • Banners can be purchased to announce your graduate name and congrats from an on- line company called shindigz.com
